This is a Weruva rap about pet food nutrition. Pets are carnivores so let’s feed them a diet fit for the carnivore in them. Feed protein and fat and keep carbohydrates low. Keep it simple, keep it safe!

POMERA is available for adoption through Friends of Homeless Animals, www.foha.org — (703) 385-0224 or adopt-a-cat@foha.org I’m cute, sassy, and ready to find a home. I’m Pomera, aka Pom Pom. I’m a “special needs” cat because I’ve had a bit of a history of tummy troubles. My tummy gave me such problems that at one point in time, I weighed less than 4 pounds. It took lots of diagnostics and a little bit of experimenting to figure out the right combination of special diet and medicine to help my belly digest food and get all the nutrients out of it. Now I eat a hypoallergenic food – and no sneaking me treats, or we’ll both be in trouble! Because I’m on such a restrictive diet, I’d do best in a home where either I’m the only cat or where there’s a way I can be fed separately and frequently throughout the day. I’m what they call a social eater – I’m not one to sit and gobble down my food all at one sitting. I’ll also need medication on a daily basis – my cocktail of meds that help me digest and have been instrument in getting me from under 4 pounds in weight to over 7 pounds! Because I need a special person to monitor my food intake, folks may be hesitant to take on the commitment of a cat who could need future medical care, diagnostics, and ongoing medication. That’s why FOHA looks for special people to serve as long-term foster families. FOHA does the heavy lifting financially for the medical care, including medicines and prescription food. Siamese with UTI and other illnesses

My beautiful cat, Diva, began acting up a few months ago. I took her to the vet -we suspected urinary track infection. She got the medicine she needed and seemed to be OK, but if you look at the video, her behavior went beyond an UTI. The vet couldn’t figured out what was causing her demeanor. Frustrated, I changed her food, first for organic cat food, and that seemed to work for a while. Then she began to vomit every single day. A friend told me to put her on baby food, so i began her new baby food diet (ham was the only one she would eat). After a few days, she started to vomit again, refused to eat the baby food, and began a hunger strike. She started to sneak into the puppies bedroom (two 10-year-old female dogs) to eat both their wet & dry food. I noticed the crunchies made her throw up, but she seemed to do very well and like the wet food (organic too). Now, she only eats what my 2 dogs eat (i keep the dog crunchies out of her reach), and she seems to be doing good. Other than the occasional vomit, she doesn’t present any more of the crazy symptoms you see in the video. BTW: Diva is a wonderful 15-year-old Siamese. So, I hope this video and stepts towards Diva’s recovery can help other cat and their human companions out there.

Struvite crystals are also referred to as triple phosphate (magnesium ammonium phosphate), and when several crystals join together to form stones, they can become life-threatening to the cat. These stones can range in shape and size, and when they block the urinary tract, they can quickly lead to kidney failure. The incidence of struvite crystals in cats coincides exactly with the advent and widespread use of dry commercial cat foods. These diets became popular in the 1970′s, and since that time, cats have been subjected to this very painful and unnecessary condition. (These ‘foods’ were not developed for the optimal health of cats, but rather for the convenience of the owner, and for the profits of the commercial pet food manufacturers.) The cause of struvite crystals in cats is dry commercial pet foods. Due to the lack of moisture in the diet, the urine becomes too concentrated, and due to the use of plant-based ingredients in dry kibble, the urine becomes too alkaline. An alkaline environment in very concentrated urine predisposes struvite formation. Struvite crystals do not tend to appear in a more acidic environment and where the urine is more dilute. The cat is not a natural water drinker, as it has evolved over millions of years, in a very arid part of the planet, and derived most of its moisture from its prey. Consequently, the domestic cat which is fed a diet of dry foods is chronically dehydrated. Acidifying the diet with veterinary prescription diets does not

www.EmploymentCrossing.com Florida vocational schools provide the majority of graduates for Florida’s fastest growing occupations, according to a study conducted by the Florida Association of Postsecondary Schools and Colleges, or FAPSC. Florida has more than 800 state-licensed and regulated private career schools and colleges that educate more than 265000 students each year. In 2007-2008, more than 90000 students graduated and received a certificate, two-year, four-year, masters or PhD degree from a Florida career school or college. “Most people don’t realize that we are the backbone of Florida’s workforce,” said Kathy Mizereck, executive director of FAPSC. “Our schools truly focus on professional and technical, career-specific programs that help place students into jobs.” The fast growing careers in Florida include court reporting, information technology, health and allied health, and transportation, according to the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation. Sixty-four percent of new graduate employees working in technology and information sciences, and almost 55 percent of new graduate employees working in healthcare, are graduates of career colleges.
